Hello,

Hope you guys are having a good day so far.

I've been having overheating issues with my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I play games like Valorant on it, so overheating is not a big surprise.

I've tried limiting the processor state up to 80%, but it still overheats, and I don't want to lower it any further, worried that it would lower gaming performance.

So I considered getting a cooling pad. Do you think it would be worth it? Here's what I'm considering:

On most Dell laptops, the fans are on the bottom. You might want to try raising it with the center exposed (like putting 2 small blocks on the left and right so the center has good airflow), just don't cover up the openings. If you put it on a flat surface, the fans are covered on most laptops. I haven't used a laptop cooler so I can't verify if they actually work, but I know that external game console fans do nothing.

I've found they can be some help, but only if the bottom of the laptop is metal or the air intake is on the bottom. Generally the fans in cooling pads are pretty anemic as well. If you're not planning to try to use it on the go it might be a better idea to grab a normal mesh laptop stand, then point a full size tilt fan at the bottom of it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
