Can I create a full backup of my PC on my laptop?

I need to reinstall windows 10 and would like to backup my entire PC before proceeding. Is it possible to back up my PC to another computer? I have a laptop that has 900gb+ of free space. Do I need to format the hard drive on the laptop first? If I am able to backup my PC to my laptop, do I just need to connect the two with a USB cable and create the backup from there?

You can setup a network share, and then backup to that share.

If it were me, I would make the laptop a headless linux server where you can network the laptop drives (or directories) and set the rsync command to run periodically to keep the folders you create for each laptop your backing up, up to date... You would also have to have the drives/folders "mount" before each backup.

But there are all kinds of options out there for this.

you could also create a folder in the laptop and share it. that way when both system are connected within your home network, you can access that folder in the laptop from your desktop. simply copy the files over
