Hello, I currently have a hardware labs gtr 360mm radiator cooling my 3950x and I just bought a rtx 2080 super and I'm adding it to my loop and I was going to add a 480mm radiator on the side of my case where it needs to be 30mm thick and I found this radiator on performance PC's that can output 1400 watts of heat from hardware labs and what do you think of it? What's the difference between hardware labs L series and gts series?

I personally doubt that can cool 1400 watts especially in the way I would imagine that meaning. That being said a 360mm with a 480mm should be enough to cool that pc. More is always better but in terms of actually COOLing it should be more than enough IMO.

Edit I thought that was quite cheap. https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/radiators/black-ice-nemesis-480gtx-dual-core-xtreme-profile-radiator-black-carbon-n480gtx-f2pb.html

That seems to be from the same maker. Something seems off. Checking on newegg that looks way too cheap IMO would skip.

I'm not sure. The one you showed is also twice the thickness so maybe that could increase price?

Where do they get the numbers from because they say my 360 is at 1950 watts?

L is the width of the fan (i.e. 120 or 140) GTS non-L is quite a bit fatter. I think the L-series is basically what Corsair sources whereas the GTS is the OG HWlabs stuff.

Those two rads are around the same but the price is much higher. I think its sketchy.

I got my numbers from experience and when I think of how much power a 360 rad can cool it isn't 1950 watts. I understand theres soo much wiggle room in terms of what cooling is (cools to 80c or 90c or 50c). My opinion on that rad is its sketch especially with no reviews but that is my opinion.

I'm currently using this one in the front of my case, and it works great.

This is correct. I bought a corsair 140mm RAD for the rear of my case because I could not find an L-series version that would have been cheaper. But they are exactly the same except for the branding.

check your other rad and make sure theres no metal mixing but alphacool is a well known and liked brand. Once again im not saying the other one is bad im just saying compared to other rads the price to "performance" seems whack.

why are the L series so much cheaper then say the gts/gtr/gtx series?

Might be that they can produce them in bulk, and therefore cheaper, since they are the OEM for Corsair.

The L-series does not perform quiet as well as the other series, and they are a bit more flow restrictive. But the quality is still top notch Hardware Labs quality. And if a wider Rad won't fit, then these are a great choice vs other manufacturers in my opinion.

Yeah I'm space ristricted because it's going behind the motherboard tray basically. How much worse do they perform and when you say flow restricted is that water or sir?

Not much. The spec sheet claims 1500W vs 1400W peak.

Water. But it isn't that meaningful. I have 2 blocks, 3 rads, and a flow meter all on 1 EK-D5 pump and it's fine. I run the pump at like 50% to 80% most of the time.

Ok cool, I have a corsair d5 pump with 2 blocks and will eventually have 2 radiators and maybe a 3rd dependent on how well the 2 perform

There's no set metric for measuring cooling performance so any statement of "displacing X watts" is meaningless unless you know a load of other figures.

That said Hardware Labs OG GTS and GTX series are widely regarded as the best/amongst the best in their respective thickness categories particularly if you are going for low noise and fan speeds. The L series stuff is basically identical to the Corsair branded radiators except for badging so not quite as good as the GTS or GTX.

I would look for a 480GTS if you can deal with the slightly increased width.

Oddly, they're in stock in several places here in the UK despite normally being unobtanium.
