Network speed on my X570 board, should it be more?

So I recently got a new X570 Motherboard and a Ryzen 3700X Processor, my download speed at home is 100Mbps sometimes it's a little bit more. SO my problem it that my motherboard doesn't seem to allow higher throughput than 100Mbps.

 

 

 

As you can see in these 2 screenshots, it caps out at 100Mbps network usage. Which isn't usually a problem but when I'm downloading many things at once and watching youtube/streaming from twitch for e.g., I start to get drops in performance because I'm not getting the data fast enough.

 

So I was thinking, that surely a motherboard like the MSI X570 has a Gigabit ehternet port and if so what can I do to enable it?

 

P.S. I have downloaded all the latest drivers from MSI and Realtek for this network controller.

 

Solution:

So it turns out that all I needed was a new network cable and I’m now running at 1Gbps.
 

I was just confused as to how it was showing up on my system. I saw things on my pc that made me believe it was my motherboard not allowing more throughput, which was partially true but it needed a proper 1Gbps capable cable to display that it was able to operate at 1Gbps.

Tbh I think it is normal wireless if the home network is 100mbps then if you reach that it's right

I dunno I looked at hte link site and checked my own adapter and it says 1.0Gbps and not 100.0Mbps

 

I don't know whether that visual difference actually makes a difference, but it is certainly different on my X570 motherboard.

I don't have whatever that website is talking about installed.

What are you connected to?  The modem/router from your ISP or your own?  You may not be plugged into a gigabit port.

This might be it.  The killer site says their drivers use auto-negotiation so if your modem/router is telling the NIC 100Mbps then that's what will display in the details.

I think I might possibly have a damaged Cat5e cable, gonna buy a new cable and test when I get home.

Ah man, I tried setting the speed & duplex to 1Gbps instead of auto negotiation and it didn’t change anything.

 

It seems to be that my motherboard is just not allowing more throughput, so I’m thinking it’s either some driver issues . My network usually goes to 130Mbps and I start to experience performance issues when I try to use over 100Mbps of bandwidth which shows up as 100% usage in task manager.

 

This isn’t a huge problem but I’d like to sort this out if I can, so I can use my hardware to it’s full potential :)

It’s a wired network, might have a damaged cable or the incorrect drivers.

Yea I should be seeing 1Gbps like you not 100Mbps, trying to figure out why. (I have some replies on other comments)

On which end did you change it to 1Gbps?  Are you adjusting anything on the modem/router side?

I changed the ethernet settings in windows from auto-negotiation to full duplex 1Gbps, which didn’t make a difference.

 

The router seems to be sending me more than 100Mbps of data, at which point my task manager says 100% usage on the network when 1Gbps should be 100% usage.

 

So at the moment I’m more concerned with the motherboard allowing more throughput.

I did, the last thing I have left to check is a different network cable. I'll make updates once I find things out.
