it is the TP-Link TL-WN821N and the wireless assess point is just a ISP provided one but it is not the access point

It might still be important, so please share.

And also post the access point's WiFi settings.

How many other peripherals do you have plugged in via USB?

Go to your gateway’s internal IP address (usually 192.168.20.1) and login with admin > admin.

BTW, is the network adapter still being recognized in Device Manager?

yes it is all that is happening is that it just is not showing up the wifi on the PC it is showing up on my phone though so the problem is something to do with windows or the adapter

You'll need to find a way to log in. Maybe contact your ISP. We're trying to rule out that the problem doesn't lie with your existing equipment/setup before recommending a new adapter altogether.

My reason for checking the Netcomm device is to see if your 2.4GHz radio was somehow disabled or a setting changed (e.g. channel width, wireless channel, power level, etc.). Many wireless routers have wireless settings on "auto" and, if you don't go in to provide manual settings, the device will try to make "intelligent guesses" as to how to optimize performance. Unfortunately, these guesses can be problematic, especially for client devices.

Your USB WiFi adapter is from the older generation of 802.11a/b/g/n that only utilized the 2.4GHz band, but your Netcomm device supports WiFi 5 (802.11ac/a/b/g/n). If the 2.4GHz radio was disabled, the wireless channel was changed to 13 (a valid channel but not all client devices can access) or the channel width was widened, your WiFi adapter would not see the signal. This, of course, is assuming that the adapter is functioning normally, but, as you might not be aware, WiFi USB adapters have high failure rates primarily because of their weak chipsets. Since your smart phone is still connecting wirelessly (hopefull, not on cellular data!), it's likely connecting through the 5GHz band. Check the WiFi connection details on your phone to verify.

FWIW, try rebooting your ISP device to see if the problem magically solves itself for now.
