Hi guys,

Over the past few days, the weathers been really hot. I’ve had a problem where my graphics card keeps reaching a temperature of over 90 Celsius. I’ve got a few fans on the case and the front is removed so it can cool down but it still shuts down. What can I do to stop it from overheating.

Many thanks,

Reece

Best thing you can do is keep the side panel open and get yourself a box fan to blow fresh cool air into the case.

And it looks like you did some quick dusting of your PSU shroud before taking the picture. 😂

Make sure your GPU cooler isn't clogged with dust, and make sure the fans for it are spinning up properly.

Is that red card below the GPU blocking a fan? Can it be moved?

I may of taken a picture and seen the dust😂😂. I’ve only just taken apart the card a few days ago and put some new thermal paste on it. The red card is my wireless network card and I’ve brought an pci-e extension cable for it but now I don’t know where to put it. I know the fans work as I stuck my finger in both of them😂😂

You can just move the network card down 1 or 2 (may even 3) slot, and that will give some more clearance for the graphics card's cooling fans.

If the network card is RIGHT up against the fan(s), it will block airflow.

What computer case do you have?

Also, what graphics card is that....do you have the specific model?

I have brought an extender for the network card so I can move it to the bottom. It’s the Gigabyte RTX 2060 OC edition. The case was one that my friend gave me so I’m not sure what it is but the front is glass so it does restrict a lot of the air flow.

Yeah... that front glass panel WILL restrict airflow...

Are you able to take the front fans off, and mount it back on the INSIDE of the case?

Right now, it is [case] [fans] [glass]

Can you do [fans] [case] [glass] ?

That will give the fans THAT extra 25mm or so extra gap to breathe.

You did mention, even with the front removed, the RTX 2060 still climbs into the 90*C temperature range.

Are you letting the cooling fans on the card run on Auto / Default settings?

Have you tried setting up a custom fan curve?

moving the fans inside the case seems like a good idea but probably won't be possible for the lowest one.

Just an idea like that ... If it doesn't lead to better temps after moving the fans and the network card you could try a negative pressure setup with back and top exhaust only letting the air come in from the unused rear slot under the gpu just like the nzxt h500 does.  I'm not sure if there's enought unuse slot for that to be effective tho and you would have to replace the cover with some mesh cover.  Can be found cheap on amazon.

Seems like all of your fans are pushing air inside of the case leading to overheating since your PC can't move the hot air outside generated by the CPU and GPU. Just flip the fan on the rear and make sure it pushes air OUTSIDE the case, not INSIDE. Also you can remove the third fan on the front bottom and mount it on to top as exhaust. That will solve your overheating. And that glass on the front panel is very restrictive, but not that bad. Try my solution, you will see that it will at least drop your temps.
