Graphic card through MOBO

I have an ASRock Z87 Extreme4 MOBO which has HDMI in which I would like to use but it requires you to have your monitor plugged into the MOBO. I think I remember hearing something about you can pass the GPU signal through the MOBO video out. Does anyone know if this is actually a thing and if so How do I set it up with my GTX 770?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but you can switch between onboard graphics or through the pci slot in your bios.

Why do you want to do this in the first place? The video card has HDMI on it.

OP, you may not be able to do this since you are using a discrete card.

The manual explicitly shows you have to use the onboard HDMI out.

I don't think it's possible- unless you have 2 monitors. The 770s power would be throttled by the integrated gpus wiring.
