It will only work in quad channel if you have a quad channel processor (Threadripper and Xeons for example, consumer desktop stuff does not have quad channel.) and a quad channel motherboard.

4 sticks in 4 slots does not make it quad channel, its 2 dual channels.

With 3 sticks you will be running 8gb in dual channel and 4gb in single channel in your current setup unless you have an HEDT system which can run quad channel, but I don't think that is the case based on the question.

i get it. yes im sure it is. i'm running a I7 3820 on a rampage IV Formula. now it running triple channel. the reason in asking is to make sure its not going to run dual channel. but i have got my answer.

Can use CPU-Z to validate how the ram is running as well (memory tab iirc)

i know how it is running. im not sure on how the channel validation works. if i add an other moduel it should work? not the less with ram moduel it is? same spec of course.
