Laptop for programming and video editing

I'm helping my sister to buy a laptop to be used for programming and video editing but I don't know which specs of the laptop to look for with these uses. Can anyone tell me which components or specs of the laptop I should look into for programming and video editing? Thanks!

For programming not much, but a nice cpu helps with compiling,
As for video editing that really depends what she has to edit. Are we talking 4k footage in big projects or putting together video files and a bit of rendering.
In general CPU, GPU and RAM are all important for videoediting but the amount of each depends on usecase, budget and software

I make Rainmeter things and other art :D

I think she will use it for school so I don't think the videos will be 4k footage. And the budget is around $2000. Any recommendations?

at that point it could easily depend on if she want's a mac (i don't reccomend because i dislike apple computers) they are easy to use with many edeting programs and such.

try looking at some of the thin ones from asus, since she probably doesn't need a gaming laptop

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

I was thinking of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. Is that more than enough?

i can't remember the specs off the top of my head.

but if she's using it in school it might be a bother if it require a spinning fan whenever it's on so you might also take that into consideration.

i had that problem during my exam and had to open an "illegal" external program to tell my pc to shut up otherwise it sounded like someone starting a big server.
