Arc Midi-fx, First Loop!

Hello everyone! I finally decided to watercool my build after using CLC or heatsink for the last couple of years. My first loop! ^_^

Here is my build, my main computer upgraded all the time :

CPU: AMD FX-8350

MB: Asus Crosshair-V Formula-Z

RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum (2x4gb)

GPU: MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III OC (v1)

SSD / HDD : 64gb Crucial M4 + 1,5Tb of Caviar Blue

PSU: Corsair HX650 (v1)

Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2

Watercooling (thanks DazMode!):

XSPC Raystorm (AMD) XSPC EX240 + EX240 CrossFlow

XSPC D5 Tank XSPC 3/8 - 5/8

Black tubbing

Feser black fittings (x6) +

XSPC Black chrome fitting + Bitspower 90-degree fitting DazMode D5 Vario (Laing D5)

Here are much better pictures of the rig, not a lot since I'll be changing all the LED to red and adding a GPU block soon!

Here's how the lighting looks like

Socket area (Raystorm AMD block); note how that acrylic bracket bends under the pressure

As I said, more is to come as I will install the GPU block (an EK-FC7950 Acetal + Backplate) and switch all the LED (+ Corsair's fan) to red

Looks like it will be a nice first loop that you can add to in the future. You just going to cool the cpu for now or are you going to add in a video card to cool to?

Thank you!

Yes, expanding is the plan: I'll add the a GPU and a NB / MB block later (maybe when I clean the loop in ~6 months).

But, I want to try a loop first ( and reconsider it if I destroy my computer  :P ).

Also, my 7950 don't have a 7970 PCB (first revision of TF3), which mean the only block that will fit are sold only in the US (importing fees $$$)  :(

You can resize pictures easily online, try this site> http://www.picresize.com/

Then what I do is upload the images I want to use to Photobucket (it's free to join) then just copy/paste the IMG code like so.........

rsz_wp_20130430_14_zps742224ae.jpg

Pic size is now 900x675 25% smaller.

It looks very cool, I love the red and black sleeved power connectors, did you custom sleeve them yourself?

Oh, nice, thanks!

I wish I was that good  ;)

It's BitFenix Alchemy extension; got this "starter" kit from Performances-PCs

UPDATE, testing leak (don't be fooled, those are pure-white LED)!

Oh, and nothing is powered on, I just unplugged the extensions from behind  :P

(Are those "white" bubbles normal?)

Surprised on how smooth it went ( for now ^_^  )

I think I broke my pump speed control

Otherwise the loop is going strong; a night of leaking test wont hurt though and the res is way cleaner  ^_^

Shameless bump as my build is now finished, how does it look?  ^_^

(crap photo are in the first post)

I'm going in the 1,53V for the 5Ghz! Not a golden FX, but a custom loop don't seem to care.

Temps are awesome.

I did forgot to remove the plastic lid on the block at first though... that overheating was not normal  :P

Pretty decent job, Your the first person I've seen that's put a rad in the front and moved the drive cage back to the other holes. I would like to have seen the gpu included in the loop and a red themed psu, but that's just nitpicking

Thanks!

I know, with a GPU block I would've been able to take other thing than an EX240 CrossFlow and push/pull the normal EX240 and make a much cleaner loop ^_^

Sadly I can't find any 7950 pcb block (early adopter of the 7950s I guess...) in Canada, the only one that would work are Swiftech Komodo 7950 and EK-FC7950 :(

But, maybe in next few months I'll be able to find / import one!

I'm personally not a fan of two-tone lighting, but other than that this definitely looks very good, also that's a lot of rads for one CPU, are you thinking about adding a GPU block later on?

  • 3 weeks later...

So, I finally found a new camera (Sony Alpha SLT-A37) and took some photos of the rig (not crappy one). I didn't upload that manny pictures as this loop will soon have a GPU block inside, switching the CrossFlow EX240 to a normal one and making everything Red / Black (getting rid of the white LED + corsair white rings on the fan).

The GPU block will be an EK-FC7950 Acetal that is comming from the US, so maybe I'll be able to post the final build next week!

Thank for the suggestions!
