So recently I have started to lose picture after about 10 minutes of playing a game or just doing anything on my PC. I called EVGA about it after it had happened once and they replaced it and they are going to replace it again. The only difference between then and now is that it didn’t break the GPU and that the fan is going max RPM. The representative told me the most of the time it’s because the PSU is either not giving enough or giving too much power. Is there a way to test/fix this?

do you have the pc hooked up to a dedicated plug or is it on a strip socket? Have you tried under clocking the gpu in msi afterburner just to see if that helps? have you tried using a different port on your graphics card? When was the last time you replaced your cpu thermal paste and for that matter what i5 is it? Have you recently run windows update and updated your graphics card drivers with the newest one available from the Nvidea website?also try reseating your ram for good measure as I have seen loose ram cause weird issues in the past. What wattage is your current psu and are you using any weird adapters such as molex to pcie?

I have it plugged into a wall outlet. And for some reason after unplugging everything and plugging it all back in it seems to be working fine now (I also turned the graphics down in Starcraft 2 which is where it would stop showing). It’s an EVGA GPU. The PSU is a Corsair cx650m. It an i5 coffee lake 8th gen 6 core. Didn’t know I needed to replace thermal paste. I’m not very experienced in computers. This is the first one I’ve built.

How old is your house?

The PSU shouldn't be the issue unless it's a defective unit.

It’s a fairly new house. I took it apart earlier ( i unplugged everything and took the PSU and GPU out) and put it back together and lowered the graphics on Starcraft 2 (the game that I had been playing when it happened the most) and it seems to be working now.
