So I've recently heard about ProtonMail and Epic Games store not allowing user to use ProtonMail email to log in or signup.

I google what is ProtonMail and it looks like it's privacy focus, so I'm thinking on switching to it.

But what will happen to my account that is using my current Gmail? Do I need to manually change it to my new protonmail?

Nothing will happen to your Gmail - it will exist as it always has. The only thing you have to do when you switch email providers is provide friends & family with your new email, then manually update your email address with literally every service you currently use. Beware you may have to keep your Gmail around if you use any services that don't allow you to change the email address on file.

If you mean what will happen to your Epic Games account currently using your Gmail, I have no idea - you'll have to see if they let you change your login email, and then hope that they don't block using ProtonMail email addresses.

You might be able to use some auto forwarding so everyplace currently with your gmail still uses that one but it goes to your protonmail inbox as well. You then use protonmail for anything new.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

i recommend tutanota over protonmail as it's free and doesn't limit you as much as protonmail does, but that's besides the question.

if you want all your emails going to your gmail to go to your new email address, you can set up auto forwarding in gmails settings, as shown here.image.png.bf6033db70ca367330e2d74911f964b2.png
