Budget (including currency): around 1500 EUR / 1700 USD

Country: Austria (EU)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Cinema 4D... LOTS of rendering!!

I'm currently looking for a new workstation pc for CAD, rendering and engineering stuff. I need good rendering performance and the pc needs to be quiet as it's gonna be rendering over night in the same room I'm sleeping. Good looks are a plus!

I attached my pcpartpicker list, what do you guys think?

3700x will be a better bet. twice the threads at similar per thread performance. I would suggest a large air cooler like the NHD-15, DRP4 or the H100i instead as the h100x is known to get pretty loud. the i and x versions are very different.

you could use 32gb of ram, it will be nice in cad.

This is my suggestion:

Few things to note:

- You mention about leaving to render over night so I believe you will benefit more from the multi-threaded prowess of Ryzen, instead of the single threaded speed of intel. It's also much better value with better upgrade options and features.

-Cooler: I went for an air cooler which should perform great and be very quiet. If you get the chromax version it will look much nicer. However an AIO will be slightly quieter if you'd rather that route

-The Samsung drive you picked is a great performer, but not great value. If you want value get the P1 that I listed which give syou double the capacity. If you want speed, you may as well go for pcie 4.0 which will give you incredible performance. The Corsair drive listed costs the same as the crucial drive.

- I don't know how much your workflow benefits from a GPU, but the 5600xt is a great midrange option, and will game great if you ever feel like it.

-P400A is a great value and airflow focused case, but obviously you may want a different one based on aesthetics or noise levels. Maybe look at bequiet cases for quiet options. Your case fan choice will also impact noise levels alot

Hope this isn't too much info, and hope it helps :)

Edit: Just saw your comment on RAM. Use the ~€70 and maybe get an AIO or a better GPU then

Thank you!

The case is just personal preference, I know that it's expensive but the 280X just looks so nice... I'll stick to the Amd 3800X as the Cinema 4D rendering engine only uses one core and for general CAD work 8 cores are more than enough. How much worse is the 5600XT to the 5700XT?

Sounds good. Tbh your selection looks better than mine. 5700XT will give you a noticeable improvement over the 5600XT and I would strongly recommend it. With the 3800X you may want to wait for the 3800XT to be launched on July 7th. It will have slightly higher clocks than the current model.

Also, that case does look great :)
