Hi everyone,

I'm building a computer in about a month's time and the only part I'm not sure about is the SSD. I'm obviously on a budget and so there are 3 that I'm considering, could you tell me which ones you recommend (out of the ones listed or any of your own choosing) considering write/read speeds, price and amount of storage itself:

Thanks a lot,

Just go for the cheapest decent one. They're all pretty similar and it's unlikely you'd notice much if at all the differences between them for day to day usage.

^This. Good SSDs these days are all pretty similar in performance for daily

usage. Sure, one might be slightly faster than another on paper (and/or in

actual benchmarks), but those numbers aren't really relevant for most daily

usage scenarios. Unless you have a very specific use case which brings out

certain aspects of a drive (say, writing lots of large files, which would make

it advantageous to have good sequential write performance), you'll hardly

notice the difference between two drives in practice.

Best is the 840 Pro and has been for quite some time. Good alternative options are plextor and sandisks highest end.

Samsung is great but the Evo is not their best drive from a performance perspective.

Samsung drives are massively hyped and overrated.

the performance consistency for IOPS is mediocre and the speed drops dramatically especially on low capacity (12X, 25X) models

source:

TLC is also an absolute meh and imo not worth your investment.

if you want the real deal and you are on budget, get the Seagate 600

if you want the most consistent drive under extreme loads at reasonable price get the Intel 530

if you want the best possible SSD in terms of raw performance and consistency get the Sandisk Extreme II

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.
