ROG Swift PG278Q

Tola

Would this monitor be a wise investment for my build when the monitor is released?

Of Course it would because you have a 780 ti but i always recommend a ips panel over TN but the Swift supposedly has a really good TN Panel so go for it if you think it would benefit you .

Is there a big difference between a really high quality TN panel(that's what ASUS is claiming.) and an IPS monitor.

i think their will be a difference but in reality if all your doing gaming it probably won't make much if a difference.

I personally think high refresh rate panels are overrated. The colour reproduction on IPS is just so much better -- and I own both IPS and 120hz monitors.

Yes their is. However I would take high refresh rate over colors any day of the week. Plus G-Sync!

And your profile pic is very disgusting. I am eating lunch right now!

The PB isn't an IPS panel, it's a PLS panel. Slightly different.

You can't definitively say there's a difference between the panels until it has hit market and someone has done some really in depth testing with them.

For all we know it could be very comparable to cheaper IPS panels. Not all IPS panels are better, just as not all TN panels are absolute garbage. There are poor panels in each category.

I don't think the monitor will be worth its $800 price tag. Likely even higher in Canada, so we'll figure $899. For that price you can buy a top tier LG IPS monitor, as well as a color calibrator and possibly even a VESA arm from Silverstone.

I'd wait till the price drops. I'd pay $649 for one, but not much more than that.

I also agree. Your profile pic is pretty disturbing.

...not only that, but I'm a little disturbed at how you'd even come across it. Looking up a lot of dogs humping?

virtually no difference, better blacks higher brightness. PLS is just Samsung's version of IPS. I have an ips beside a pls, you can't tell the difference unlike a ips beside a TN.
