Nothing?
If it was a custom crossover ethernet cable, it could potentially be used for something. (Except I'm not even sure if it would work from PC to PS4.)

But as is? As a regular Ethernet cable? Nah.

Nothing. Logic says it all. If you want an ethernet connection to the PS4, you will need a cable ran from switch-router-etc...

We don't use crossover cables any more, Gigabit ethernet ports automatically detect when you need crossover and adapt accordingly.  In fact, the PS4 has the ability to transfer your data from one PS4 to another by simply connecting them to each other via ethernet.

If the PC had a wireless Internet connection and Internet sharing was enabled with the wired port, the PS4 can get online this way, but it would be double-NAT so problematic if gaming online.

Oh, they do ?  I haven't had to do that in like 15+ years since its always easier to just use a router. The more you know, I guess.
