Howdy!

Currently troubleshooting a system that won’t boot.

I located the problem down to the RAM. This is a pair of 2x8 DIMMs, using the other DIMM, I could get the system to boot. But, if I put this stick in, either by itself or trying dual channel, the PC would not boot.

I took the DIMM out and noticed this:

This is the only thing identifying itself as to why the DIMM is failing. Is it even worth attempting to repair this? Considering this is my secondary budget build, I’m not trying to sink a ton of money into the system but still want the 16 gigs.

if the sticks need to be replaced, what DDR3 (up to 2400Mhz) DIMM set would you recommend, please include a link.

Thank you!

you could solder a wire from a good spot above the pin,(looks doable), and solder to the correct point under the slot. i do not recommend this, as stated above, ddr3 cost very little, and solder work like that takes at least a fair bit of skill, and damaging the ram, or motherboard is VERY easy to do in that circumstance.

Definitely do NOT attempt to fix this memory by soldering it yourself.  The risk of creating further damage to your motherboard is just not worth it.  Replacing the memory is your only choice.  You mentioned 8gigs ram, 2400speed, so I would go with the memory here.  It is a 2x8 dimm kit so it's matched for dual channel.  Granted, this is just my opinion and opinions are like the nose on your face, everyone has one.  I have been doing the computer thing for a long time and this is what I would do.

Good luck, take care, and have a good weekend.

Unless you have a solid proof that the pin was loose from the factory, I doubt it.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post
