GTX 970 overheating issues

Hello I’ve just recently started having issues when gaming using my GTX 970, after about ten minutes the screen crashes goes black and reads as no display device connected. The only fix is to restart the PC. This instability only occurs when the GPU is being used, if I’m browsing web, using other apps (non gpu intensive) no issues. I just recently updated to the lastest Nvidia driver so that’s updated. I did this after I started having issues, so that’s not cause of it, but has not fixed it. I've run a temp test on the gpu when not under load it stays at around 42-48 celsius and when under heavy load (running forza horizon 4) the temps on the gpu climb all the way to over 90 celsius until ultimately crashing. Any ideas what might be happening here?? Below are my Userbenchmark stats and system specs:

Could be that you might need to repaste your gpu, the thermal paste between the die and cooler can corrode away or harden overtime, you can look up a guide if you are not familiar , someone had a similar issue, visit this post to see the improvements of re-pasting a 970
