Hi everyone,

last week I bought an Acer Nitro XV2 XV272UPbmiiprzx. It is a great monitor, but I have some problems with the resolution.
The first time I used the monitor, it got detected as a 3840x2160 display with 29hz, even tho it is a WQHD monitor.
3840x2160 was set as recommended in the display settings and even if I changed it to 2560x1440, it still shwowed up as 3840x2160 29hz monitor in the advanced display settings. I wasnt able to change the resolution and the hz in the display settings.
So I reinstalled the GPU drivers and installed the AMD Catalyst Control Center. (I have a R9 280X) I was able to change the resolution in the AMD Catalyst to 2560x1440 with 60hz (only have HDMI right now) and it looks great.
The problem is, that for some reason my games still detect the monitor as a 3840x2160 monitor and I dont know why it does that.

Does it affect performance if a game "trys" to display 3840x2160 on a WQHD monitor?
How can I permanently change the resolution?
I am sorry If I miss something here, I am new to monitors.

I see you have an amd graphics card. If you open the radeon software program, go under "device status" and click on "manage devices." Under the display tab, is "Virtual super resolution" enabled?
