Hi, I am looking at doing a memory upgrade on my dads system he has a dell XPS 8930

Info From Dells website that I found; ¨Memory specifications Slots Four UDIMM slots Type DDR4 Speed • Up to 2400 MHz: i3 processor • Up to 2666 MHz: i5/i7/i7k processors Configurations supported: Per memory module slot 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB. Total memory 8 GB, 16 GB, 24 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB¨

Extra Info for you guys ¨Chipset Intel Z370¨

My dad has the I7-8700 and one Slot used with 8GB of ram in it. I cant find any information on that part even after googling it, so I figured that id get a new matching pair.

Now for my question I believe it would be pointless to get anything higher then 2666MHz for him?

https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820231892?Item=N82E16820231892

Would this be a good buy for him? and would it work? Ignore the price its in CND funds.

Thank you for your time.

For office etc ?

It's plenty  I think 8 gigs should be enough tho unless you are page filing and it's not enough

But yes 2666 would be more than enough ( assuming it's for office )

mostly offices work with lots of docs opened. He does run a few Strategy games like Civ 5 and Civ 6.

Then yes 2666 will be more than enough

And the link I provided would be a correct fit for his system? Thank you again.

It should work for the most part but it's a little over kill

Get something like gskill value kit and that will save you alot of money

I had see these

But.. they charge 20$ for shipping on the value ones and 8$ on the first ones i posted. So its a 3$ difference for the value ones.

Then get the nicer one

They are both hynix so nothing fancy but it has a heat spreader and looks better ;)
