Hello! I have been using my new XFX RX580 for a day already and its really good. however image.png.d56ddf0b9ce1017b55f698c22a726d68.png this seems weird (not in a game) and it says the clock speeds are around 1300 if im not wrong. and the "bios switch" is closer to the power connectors (away from the ports)

Is it bad? I wanna be sure im getting the most out of it!

GPUs don't sit at their base clock when it isn't needed. Right now just sitting in Chrome, my GPU idles at around 400MHz. It will start to ramp up once you get into a game where it's needed.

Sort of like a CPU will ramp up to its boost when you're doing a cpu-intense task, and then clock back down.

Okay! thanks for letting me know! :) also in games (only tested fortnite cause I dont have a lot of games and my CPU is i5-7400) it stutters kind of so im scared its not performing like a real RX580

Do you have an RX-580 4GB or 8GB?

What Graphics Card were you using before?

If it was an nVidia card, did you use DDU to completely wipe the nVidia GeForce drivers?

https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Leftover nVidia driver files can cause similar issues / symptoms.

Did you download the latest drivers available directly from AMD's website?

https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-rx-500-series/radeon-rx-580

In certain games, the 4-core / 4-thread, along with the low CPU clock speed, on the i5-7400 will be a bottleneck.

A buddy of mine has a i5-7500 and a RX-580, and we notice he runs into a bit of CPU bottleneck in OverWatch.

Honestly I completely forgot about using DDU (had a 1050)

And this is my RX580 https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-1386MHz-Graphics-RX-580P8DFD6/dp/B06Y66K3XD/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-p13n1_0?cv_ct_cx=RX+580&dchild=1&keywords=RX+580&pd_rd_i=B06Y66K3XD&pd_rd_r=88126e7a-7911-4da1-a45a-b97e27e5659d&pd_rd_w=Dqe5D&pd_rd_wg=A4Be2&pf_rd_p=7f71fdcf-aa37-4d97-b40d-864dcfdc13e5&pf_rd_r=M0H9GN3KVNBDA4VFCXER&psc=1&qid=1592042628&sr=1-1-beb77b32-1078-477f-b152-b09baa1ee7f7

And yeah I notice my CPU is on high usage most of the time so I might have to upgrade in the future (no money ATM)

You have to use ddu when you move to a different GPU

Check  temps

And make sure you have xmp on just for that little extra performance

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

I will do it now (AMD+Nvidia) and I will use the radeon software to install the drivers

And XMP for the ram is already enabled

seems like cpu bottleneck and cpu is likely causing you  stutters since it only has 4 threads

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

A 7400 shouldn't Bottleneck a 580

It is still decent  not to mention it's ipc count is good enough for a casual system

fortnite uses more than 4 threads when multithreading is enabled in fortnite. trey to diable the multicore thing in the system

Jesus christ guys a question

I just went into safe mode and removed both nvidia+amd drivers. rebooted to install the AMD Radeon Software to get the newest drivers and after my PC was on for a bit a driver automatically installed and the fans started spinning like crazy for a few seconds and then stopped. now I rebooted my PC and I have AMD Radeon Settings and I didnt have that before X_X is it bad? is it good? should I update my drivers still? cause the radeon thing is completely different now

Windows probably grabbed some kind of Graphics drivers automatically, because it detected the computer display drivers.

That is fine.

Still, just install the latest driver you downloaded, reboot, and check/confirm the software/driver version in the Radeon Settings.

Okay! I did that thank you! a question though. my CPU is bottleneck by the GPU (or GPU bottlenecked by the CPU idk but the CPU is on 100% most of the time) so im thinking about getting a mobo+cpu combo in the future (GA-H110M-S2H and i5-7400) but I dont know what. I dont want something overkill of course I just want something good enough for my RX580 that wont be too much/too less for it. (can you say too less?)

Do you usually do a major / complete computer upgrade every few years?

You can get a powerful CPU + Mobo combo, and re-use it with your next GPU upgrade.

If you were to grab a Ryzen 3000 series (or wait for Ryzen 4000 series) or take up an Intel i5-10600K now, you could carry it over until you upgrade your graphics card...once or twice from the RX-580.

Personally, I upgrade the CPU only when there is a significant jump...similar on the Graphics Card (but ends up being an upgrade every 2 or 3 GPU generations in between).

For an example, I went:

  • Radeon HD 7970
  • Skipped the AMD R-200 and R-300 series
  • Grabbed a R9-Fury
  • Skipped the RX 400-series, RX 500-series, and Vega-series
  • (Recently) grabbed a 5700 XT

From 2013 until 2020, I've lived with 3x CPUs in total (2x if my i7-6800K did not die, forcing me to upgrade)

I will probably never upgrade again after that. I had a 1050 for ages until I recently upgraded it to my RX580 (and switched my shitty 650w psu to CX450)

I just want something that will be equal with the RX580 and wont make the CPU be at 100% all the time

What is your budget for a CPU + Mobo?

Right now, Ryzen 3000-series + B450/B550/X570 will give you an upgrade path to Ryzen 4000-series (AM4 supported Ryzen since 1000-series, though).

New Intel Z490 / 400-series boards have support for the new Intel 10th Gen (obviously), and 11th Gen.
