Question on power cords

Hi guys I bought a custom config on cablemod.com for my Corsair RM750x and I am thinking anout selling my RM750x to my friend and buying an HX750i or HX1000i fron Corsair and I want to know if my cables are still compatible with the newer PSU because the configurator on cablemod needs the exact PSU that I use, is it because the pins layout is not the same from PSU to an other ? or it does not matter ?

I guess the main question here is... why upgrade your PSU? That PSU is plenty fine, and there is no way 750 watts isn't enough... So what would the point of this purchase be?
