Sounds like you have a bad splitter. All the ones I have switch pretty instantly with no detection issues.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

You mean swapping inputs on the monitor itself took awhile? That’s normal but most splitters are much faster.

It could be something about your monitor where if it loses signal for even a second it makes you redetect the source.

yeah if i was to unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in again it would take a while to re connect and most times it just wouldn't connect

So then it is definitely something with your monitor. Unfortunately I don’t know know much  about monitors so I can’t help further, but someone with more experience will most likely comment and be able to help.

Does it only happen with your monitor and the splitter, or does it happen with your monitor and any other HDMI device?

I'm honestly assuming it's some issue with the splitter taking its time to enforce that HDCP works, that or if it's off, that it stays off.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

it happens even if i take the hdmi cable out and put it in again. i put the HDMI cable in and the monitor searches for HDMI as it says in the top corner then just goes blank. then i have to unplug the monitor and HDMI cable and it works or sometimes just the HDMI cable out and in again a couple times if that makes sence
