Hey guys,

 

I am building my first water cooling loop and I managed to get my hands on a 280 mm + a 120 mm radiator, both 45 mm thick. To be exact here are the full specs:

  • Alphacool Eissturm Hurricane Copper 45 2x140mm Kit
  • Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper 120mm
  • Alphacool Eisblock GPX-N Plexi Nvidia Geforce GTX TITAN X Pascal / 1080 Ti M02 GPU block

I plan to cool an oc'd 4790k and 1080 Ti Founders Edition with this. The case I have my eyes on is the CoolerMaster NR600 section7-img.png

 

The best option would be to mount the radiators to the top and back, but I don't think they both would fit, especially not in push-pull configs.

 

So I'm thinking about having the dual radiator on the top of the case and the single one in the front top position with a push pull config to provide as much intake as possible with 2 additional intake fans on the front and 1 exhaust fan at the back. Can you guys think of a better alternative? Should I be worried at all about increased case temps because of using one radiator as intake considering both CPU and GPU are watercooled? I can imagine this even having a positive effect because the front intake radiator is cooled with fresh air.

I think I'd put the 120 in the back, push only, and the 280 in the front, pull only.

What a terrible overlook on my part lol. Still the question on case temps when both CPU and GPU are cooled by the same loop stands.

Pull pull front intake, push pull rear exhaust.  I have mine setup as front push pull through rad, top push pull through rad, and rear push pull through rad.  Worth the extra fans and cable management for overall loop "thermal equilibrium"

Maybe another option if you are concerned with overall system temp's after sucking in hot air from the front rad..

 

You could put the 280 in the front and the 120 at the top of the case and make them both blow air outwards.

Then have a fan in the rear slot act as a cold air intake.

Not sure how well that would work but maybe it gives you less hot air inside the case for overall motherboard temps.

 

Do you have a ATX or M-ATX motherboard?

I have been using "cube" style cases for a while now and sadly most of them only support m-atx but they give so much more cooling options.

You can basically convert a whole side on those to have 2 rads beside each other and leave lots of room for cold air intake from other panels.

280 front, 240 top. More than enough and still have great intake airflow. Or do a low fpi 360.
