Is it possible to use two different gpus for two different monitors in a same setup? Will there be a bottleneck, startup issue, there will be something?

Ps: plss don't be triggered I'm a newbie

If you're not trying to SLI them then yes you can use multiple GPUs and gain all the ports that come with them. I think crossfire has some slight possibilities to have 2 different GPUs run as one but it's a bit sketch.

As for bottlenecks it really depends on what you're trying to do.

Which GPUs do you have?

CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: ASUS ROG RYUO III 360 ARGB White Edition All-in-one AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z490-E GAMING ATX LGA1200 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory Boosted to 4400MHz

Storage: 6 various HDDs and SSDs
Video Card: ASUS ROG Strix 3090
Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL
Power Supply: Asus ROG Thor 1000w
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED 49"
Keyboard: Logitech G915
Mouse: Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED
Headphones: Sennheiser RS 175

Mic: Blue Yeti

Multi gpu setup is practically dead now. Nvidia is trying to revive it but im not holding my breath.

That being said, Nv link, SLI, and cross fire are all options that exist for different manufacture gpu's.

At me or quote me, I want to hear your opinion.

Hopefully anything I say is factually correct. Sorry for any mistakes in advanced.

I have a Rx 580 for the monitor I game and I don't have the 2nd gpu yet. I guess I'm gonna buy a gpu from the r9 series for the 2nd monitor which I will use discord or Google and some other minor tasks. So will it be okay to do that.

You can just plug your second monitor directly into the RX-580.

If you are just going to have Discord / Google Chrome / YouTube running on the second monitor, it won't be a problem.

If your game is the main focus of the PC, you'll see little to no performance hit.

There's no need to buy a 2nd GPU for that. Just plug another hdmi/display port from your GPU to your 2nd monitor and you should be fine.

But will there be any problem if i use the different gpus for the 2 monitors like i asked. Just asking out of curiosity.

you can but like others said, it's completely pointless. having the second GPU is not gonna benefit you in anyway at all. If you do get a better GPU than you currently have and then use that one for gaming and don't feel like throwing out the old one or selling it then sure. Having both monitors plugged into the same card will not effect your gaming performance.

TLDR: you will have no issues with it but it won't benefit you in any way.

*EDIT* I should also mention that i have a 3 monitor setup running off a single 2080Ti

Adding a second GPU

  • Will draw more power, since you have a 2nd GPU running in the system
  • Generate more heat, again, because you have another GPU in the system
  • If Age / generate gap too wide, or using AMD + NVIDIA, may/will encounter driver issues

If would make sense if you are trying to drive 3+ monitors, but if you are just adding a second auxiliary monitor, and not trying to do 3-monitor / Eyefinity / Surround gaming, there is no point to add a second GPU.
