Hi guys, me again with RAM problems...

Here's some context:
I built my PC in January 2020, the specs were as follows..

- Ryzen 7 2700X w/stock cooler
- ASUS ROG STRIX RX580 8GB
- ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
- 2x8GB 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB

About a month ago, I found that I was running out of memory quite frequently when video editing, so, I went and bought a new kit of identical 2x8GB 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB. Slapped those babies in the remaining 2 DIMM slots (A1 and B1) and booted up. I initially had some problems because my PC boot looped and wouldn't POST but after disabling DOCP it would at least make it to Windows.

From then on even at stock 2133MHz, voltage and timings, I've been getting frequent BSODs and general crashes.

So I grabbed Memtest86 and set it on its way testing with all 4 DIMMs installed. I got a fair amount of errors.

After this I pulled all the sticks out bar one (in slot A2 that's reccomended for single stick config) and ran memtest again. No errors. So I swapped the sticks and ran it again until I had tested all 4 modules. All 4 passed with no errors.

So I thought it might be a motherboard issue with a faulty slot, I moved the single stick around all 4 slots and got no errors.

So... I put in all 4 sticks again and ran Memtest again, and got errors again (see here: http://fiddaman.uk/memtest, and images below).

Just a summary for those who cannot be bothered to read the waffle above...

I have 4 modules of 8GB 3200MHZ Vengeance Pro RGB memory. When testing with Memtest86, I get lots of errors. I tested each stick individually and they all passed with no errors. I tested each slot on the mobo and they all passed with no errors. I tested again with all 4 sticks and got a load of errors again (see here: http://fiddaman.uk/memtest, and images below)

I was hoping someone could shed some light on possible problems with either my testing method or the actual issue with the errors. I read in lots of places that no errors should be expected but a few is still okay, however I got more than what most would refer to as a few errors. I'm also assuming that the fact all of the errors occurred within a small memory range means something important but I don't know enough to diagnose it.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

A little more detail:

4 sticks are harder for the CPU's IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) to run then 2 sticks. Your description of the issue points toward an IMC issue, hence the soc voltage recommendation.

Went into BIOS, Ai Tweaker. Changed Memory Frequency to "DDR4-2933MHz", changed CPU SOC Voltage to Manual, 1.1v. And changed DRAM Voltage to 1.35V

Try updating the bios and see if that helps

If you want before trying 2933 woke your way up to it

Try 2666

So, you enabled DOCP, and then adjusted the soc voltage, and lowered the freq to 2933MHz and you are getting boot looping?

Try leaving soc on auto. What voltage does your motherboard report when you do that?

I did exactly that.

Then I left DOCP on and tried at 2666MHz and it booted

With SOC on auto and frequency at 2933MHz w/ DOCP it won't boot
