very high memory usage

my task manager says the ram usage is 7.0GB / 7.9GB. the only thing that is opened is chrome and the total usage is around 1.3GB. why does my task manager say there is 7GB being used?

(sorry its in dutch, it says being used: 6,4 GB , available: 1,5 GB

current rig (march 2023)

case: Corsair obsidian 750D   mobo: Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming   cpu: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x   cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240   memory: G.skill 32GB DDR4-3000   gpu: EVGA RTX 3070 XC3  PSU: seasonic X-series 850W

what processes are running.

My System Specs: (Short list) i7 4770k, GTX 780, many SSD's, a 2 TB HDD(deceased :( ), Corsair 650D. Full list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kchriz6097/saved/8dh7YJ

Upgrade Plan: Acquire some Black Noctuas then add 16 or 32GB of 2133MHz memory

SSD: samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Disable Rapid Mode in the Samsung suite, increase your page file size to at least 1/2 of you RAM value.

 

Restart. 

 

 

you wouldn't happen to be using Chrome, would you?

 

also run a virus scan while you're at it, you appear to have a large system page file but it's not really being used.

RUN A VIRUS SCAN AT ONCE!!!!! i would think that something is taking advantage of your system.... watch this youtube video, there are like 15 things open and it was only using 5.2 gbs of ram...........

non paged-pool is constantly climbing. but when i look in my details tab there isn't anything that is using loads of it.

what is causing this problem?

 

EDIT: its climbed to 1,2 GB now.
