Help?

Somethings wrong with my DNS. I can connect to skype/steam but not anything else. I went into my network proprieties and set my DNS to automatic, click okay and everything works for 10 seconds ish, then the DNS resets to 127.0.0.1 and it doesn't work again. HELP

"ipconfig /flushdns"

Then

"ipconfig /release"

Then

"ipconfig /renew"

Type it without the quotation marks.

set it to manual and fill in 8.8.8.8 as the primary, and 8.8.4.4 as the alternate

127.0.0.1 is the loopback address, its looking at its own network adapter for dns, which is obviously wrong. Try those commands out and let me know how it goes

Done it now, if I go into the properties it still has the same dns there, should that be there?

Hmm.. try changing it back to auto once more, although i dont think that will work now its worth a try.

This might be something more complicated. Do you have up to date anti virus?

I have a free AVG. I've run scans on that, malware bytes and windows defender, it found 4 trojans which were removed.

One program, and thats steelseries' driver for the Siberea v2

Do you have a virtual computer on your pc? Or has virtual computer software ever been installed on there (you will see virtual network ports).

Wired, windows 7 and by virtual pc do you mean like hamatchi? I have hamatchi, had it for ages

Ok lets try a slightly different way.

Same commands as before, different way round and with extra steps!

Ipconfig /release. Then go to dns settings - click auto. Then ipconfig /flushdns. Then ipconfig /renew

Everything is working okay now! It would have normally reset but it hasn't and hamatchi now shows on the network thing Thanks! <3

Welp, it worked fine, then my computer restarted and now it doesn't. I re did the steps and nothing, i also uninstalled hamatchi and tried but still nothing

So, didn't mange to stop it using 127.0.0.1, but unlike yesterday it does not reset if i put in an alternate, so currently using 8.8.4.4 for my alt and its been fine since  I last posted, odd.

Hmm thats odd.. well if its working then best leave it i think.. if it stops working again then more investigating will be needed.. fingers crossed!
