I'm trying to help my girlfriend out as she has been complaining her laptop has been running really slow recently. I thought of a few simple things that may help speed it up a bit ie defrag!

I've ran it a few times now and it is not going below 46% and I have no idea why. I've used Ccleaner as well to clean it up (just a side note).

I looked on treesize to see what is using her hard drive space up and she has Trendmicro installed for antivirus and it seems to be using a large portion - over 200gb. Don't know if this may be the cause for some reason

If you need more info just ask.

Any help will be appreciated - thanks guys!

Wait what trendmicro is using over 200gbs of space? Thats absurd.... Thats definitely not normal. A anti-virus program shouldn't even be remotely that big....

Get rid of Tremdmicro if you can and get Avast or MS Security Essentials or some other known free antivirus.

I wouldn't mess with ccleaner because there's a possibility of slowing down your system unless you know what you're doing. I would use malwarebytes and scan the PC. As for Trendmicro, it's odd that any antivirus program uses that much amount of space, however, that wouldn't be the reason to slow down the PC. Does she pay for that anti-virus? If not then just remove it because it's not worth the space compare to other programs like it.

Trend Micro is terrible. Put Avast on there for the love of all things PC.
