SSD degradation

Has anyone experienced their SSD's slowing down over time (SSD's you've had a while)? My main OS is on a Samsung 840 250gb drive (not the evo, this was before there was an "evo"). It had gotten considerably slow at writing any large data chunks such as when installing something or copying something to it. Most stuff being copied to the drive writes at around 50mb/s which is SLOWER than any of my hard drives. Crystal disk info shows it's healthy. Total host writes is at 65TB.

Is that 90% empty or full?

Full. It only noticeably slows down due to used space when there's 10gb left free. Right now at 25gb free it's not being slowed down.

Near full usage slow down writes more than reads, so this is normal

I could try that, but at that point I might try to clone the OS to another 840 EVO I have that is used for games. That one is newer and less used so should perform better.

It's not slow from the 90% used capacity. I only recently filled it up the past week temporarily. It was running the same speeds with 60-70gb free.

Is trim working correctly?

 

Really the only way to test is to do a reformat, Ive seen some filesystems get ugly after a while.

Will definitely do that. I just need to find a way to move around some files before I format it.
