Hi guys.

I love the "Build logs" section on this forum. If I have nothing to do, even at school on my phone, I go over there and just look at all the beatyful rigs.

But this sometimes really frustrates me: people quoting a 10+ pictures containing post to say "lookin' gooood" or something.

If this isn't already a thing, I would love it if there was a rule where you can't quote pictures unless you are commenting about something on said picture. And even then, you can only quote pictures that are relevant.

It just sucks to scroll down on a 3,7" with my thumb through what I've seen already just with a line of text after it. What's the point of being able to edit a qouted text when noone uses it?

P.S.: Sorry for any gramatical errors, I typed this in a hurry and english isn't my 1. language.

it is a bit annoying aye.

but seriously people should know what sniping is.

Actually some forums have a "quote" button and a "reply" button

quote just does everything, and reply gets rid of media and leaves text, maybe we could get that.

yes, but what happens when you want to quote images.  that's why a quote and reply button work, although getting people to understand what each does is probably the hard part.

Congrats on not quote my qoutes. You didn't take the bait. Hats off to you sir.

I think if you're trying to make a point about 1 or 2 pictures out of many, then it is ok to quote the ones you're trying to make a point about, but not an entire post about it. If there is only one picture in the post, then don't quote the picture, just talk about it since the image you're posting about is given.

If you wanted to quote images you could just simply add it to the quote xD

There's no rule against it. I shout to ppl who do it on Show you rig -thread. But thats all we can do about it.

But that sort of kills the friendly atmosphere Linus is going for, doesn't it?

Not really. Its like teaching them how to behave. Its not like I would use harsh language. Just give reminder that they have DELETE key on their keyboards. Like I sometimes remind others that there are . and , on they keyboards or that not all of us are native english speakers and can understand how north american teens talk.

there is no "rules" for quoting large jpg posts. it would be a courteously thing to snip or use the spoiler tag.

there should however be a rule against quoting the op, yes i agree it should just be common courteously, but there is no such thing on this forum as alot of people simply don't know how to use a forum, there are people quoting 10 pictures just to say nice, then there are countless of people who keeps quoting the op, now here is the oddball, people who simply just post, they reply to a person without even quoting, they just add a random post an assume that the person is going to look through all the topics, read all the comments and find it.

That would be just stupid. There are times when quoting OP is best way to make sure that they notice your reply. Like when newcomers post their troubles to general and then get moved. They don't know that they need to follow own topics in order to get replies. So its better to quote them while answering.

in a general sense quoting the op is unnecessary stupid and only serves to clutter up the thread, im not saying the should be an iron rule in coc that is carried out by beating people up when they do it, you came up with one single EXTREMELY specific scenario when it would kinda make sense, what about the 2000 other people who do it for absolutely no reason whatsoever, im just saying 99,5% of the time it's just plain silly.

If I've made a topic where I'm asking a question, I actually prefer it if somebody quotes me when replying. Otherwise, I'm just hunting down the topic every 15 minutes to see if I've gotten a new reply. Clutter is only a problem if the initial post is a really long one, and then it's a separate issue entirely where people should be encouraged to -snip- the quote.

man... you always follow your own topics.. always, to the point where people wanted to make it a forum function that it automaicly follows every topic you create, why would you spamm the thread to check for replied when you can just follow them, read the post i replied to, this is the reason as to why it's retarded to quote op, obviously the op is going to see a reply in HIS thread.

Yea sometimes some people's post have lots of pictures and when someone quotes it it takes like most of the page. It would be great if the quotes in replies acted as spoilers but that would cause inconvenience of opening up a spoiler just to see the quote. :/ @OP you could disable pictures on your mobile browser if you just wanted to see the replies. :)
