Laptop Screen gone Red

Hello

 

Has anybody had a laptop LCD suddenly go Red with weird artifacts? mine does work  with the hdmi connector sometimes, i looked at information and videos on youtube and this one seems to be worth trying (most are model specific and just tell you to change windows settings or push into specific locations)

 

 

 

has anybody tried this before? i can get a hot air station from a friend so i would just need flux, seems to be cheaper than buying a screen
