3900x temperature spikes

Hi,

I built this rig with ryzen 9 3900x and asus prime x570-p,

the cooler is a Deepcool Gammaxx L360 V2
used the supplied thermal paste that came with the cooler (which may have been a mistake)

im getting consistent temperature spikes idle or in game (eve online for this data), and now im  getting lots of frame drops no matter what i do.

is this a thermal paste application issue or is this normal for this cpu/mobo

also is it possible that the issue is that i havent got the 4pin eps plugged in as my psu doesnt have one? (i have got the 8 pin plugged in tho)

its a 650w corsair psu so should be enough

gpu is powercolor red devil rx480 8gb for the sake of completeness

Afterburner cannot accurately track Ryzen. Only Ryzen Master is 100% accurate.

well, that doesnt show temperature spikes but its still dropping frames even on desktop, im thinking a consistent oc might fix this but not sure
