Hello. This year I plan to upgrade to a new rig since my current one can't run my fav games at good looking settings. Thing is, I am not sure if I should wait for the upcoming Zen4 and Ampere. I would like to enjoy playing these summer holidays, since in September I will be in school and no time for it. I currently plan on wait to see if the rumoured 3600xt delivers a good performance and then build a pc pairing it with a B550 motherboard and either a 2060S, a 5700xt or a 2070s (haven't decided on this part yet)
I know that if I don't wait I will cry a bit in September with all the new stuff arriving, but since with Zen2 it was almost impossible to get a CPU until almost February here (since they got out of stock everytime they restocked), I think that waiting for September could just not be worth, and that going with a current graphics card like the ones I have mentioned earlier will do fine for 6 years or so

Budget (including currency): Around 1300€

Country: Spain

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  ARK Survival Evolved, Monster Hunter World, GTA V

Other details: I made this parts list (GPU and such can be changed, I still haven't decided if Red or Green lel)

The 3600 will mostly be changed for a 3600xt

The motherboard will be changed for a B550

I would buy this around mid July

Thanks in advance!

As far as I've ever seen, there's rarely point in waiting. Technology moves very fast, and you could be eternally waiting for the next upcoming product. If you're content with your specs and price, buy it and enjoy it. Just because something better comes out, doesn't mean your existing system becomes bad.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora

I would get B550 board over b450. 3600 to 3600xt not worth it for me. I rather go with Zen 3 over Zen 2 refresh.

As I mentioned in my small notes at the end, yes it will be B550.

About Zen3, I just have too much fear of having to wait 3 months like one my friends did with a 3950X

Haha yes this exactly. I am too afraid of entering an infinite loop of waiting, the product I am waiting runs out of stock and by the time it is in stock it is worth more waiting

What is your fear to wait 3 months or more? Are you impatient?

Ryzen 5 3600 to 3600xt is a waste of money for me. You might as well save $$$ to upgrade Ryzen 5 3600 to Zen 3 because your board will support Zen 3 without any issue.

I already explained that I would like to enjoy my summer with my new pc, since I will be mostly free and I want to play with my friends. I have also said how much I fear having to wait 3-4 months after launch to be able to get a Zen 3 CPU. Remember that this year the new consoles are launching and AMD will prioritize those chips way before PC, and if past year there was already a shortage after launch, picture this year

3950x shortage yes but not with 3900x and below. New consoles will have lower clock 3700x not Zen 3. Your 3600 and your gpu will going to last you more than 2 years. You can upgrade to Zen 3 once Zen 4 launch if you desire. I also suggest get an HDD at least 1TB for all your games and such.

Get a 3300x for the time being then and upgrade to the new chips when they come out

I have a 2TB HDD for that already, don't worry.

That's actually a pretty good idea, but that would end up being 130€ of the 3300x + around 190€ of the 4600, which is equal to 320€ and at that price I would rather get a 3700x. Also would make me end up having a spare 3300x that will be hard to sell and I wouldn't have any use case for it after
