can you screen shot the vm? did you change the template from 7 to vista on creating the vm?

sorry should of specified. the vm's settings, namely optical.

 

did you let the iso finish "varifying" at the end of the download? that can give incomplete iso if not.

just remembered, sometimes an error like that can be caused when you insert the cd after first vm boot/on 2nd or when you install the os, but something stopped it when installing, usually a bad iso would do it, but you said you got from microsoft so doubt its bad one. make a new vm and try again. delete 2nd if it fails.

1) i couldnt find any settings named optical

2)yes i let it finish

3)i tried remaking the vm and i didnt work and still does the same thing

so it was broken? what size is the iso? usually with the windows isos from microsoft, you'll need to let it "varify" after the download or its broked. or the iso is missing files. had a windows 7 iso that would get stuck at a cirtain point installing cause was bad one.
