I'm currently trying to use virtual-box to open a windows vista vm but everything i try doesn't work and the vm keeps saying "no bootable medium found"

 

someone please help i just want to play purple place

Do you have an .iso of Vista, or how are you planning to install it?

i downloaded a .iso of vista of the Microsoft site

Did you mount the .iso to the virtual optical drive? If you have, check the boot order to make sure the VM is trying to boot to the virtual optical drive.

yes i mounted the iso, and made sure the iso was first in boot order and it still failed

can you screen shot the vm? did you change the template from 7 to vista on creating the vm?

sorry should of specified. the vm's settings, namely optical.

 

did you let the iso finish "varifying" at the end of the download? that can give incomplete iso if not.

just remembered, sometimes an error like that can be caused when you insert the cd after first vm boot/on 2nd or when you install the os, but something stopped it when installing, usually a bad iso would do it, but you said you got from microsoft so doubt its bad one. make a new vm and try again. delete 2nd if it fails.

1) i couldnt find any settings named optical

2)yes i let it finish

3)i tried remaking the vm and i didnt work and still does the same thing

i was messing around in the settings of vm box and turned on efi i got this screen in the vm

the iso was broken even tho it was from microsoft

so it was broken? what size is the iso? usually with the windows isos from microsoft, you'll need to let it "varify" after the download or its broked. or the iso is missing files. had a windows 7 iso that would get stuck at a cirtain point installing cause was bad one.

it was like 550mb 

i didnt question it cause it was from microsoft

the weird part is i did let if verify

Put didnt instead of did

yeah the one im using rn is like 2 gig so it has hella broken
