do you guys recommend makeing a home gaming/recourding server?

What are your reasons for considering it?

It hardly depends on your individual preferences and circumstances.

 

Some pros i could think about

• No noise, if the server is in another room
• cleaner setup
• less heat in the room you are actually occupying
• can run gaming rig in VM, with multiple other VMs running.
• No (RGB) lights at night.

and some cons

• Depending on what you want, you need to account for some overhead, so increased pricing
• Takes some significant time to set up
• upgrading might also be a bit of a bother (passing through expansion cards)
• You either end up with a compressed gaming stream or you have to run optic fiber display and usb connections

Can't really think of more at the top of my head. But I'm sure you have more to add to that list.

It would sure be a fun project though
