I got a ryzen 9 3900 yesterday and I didn't realize until this morning that my corsair h100i pump was not running. I had the fans on the rad plugged into the cpu header and the aio connected to the aio header on my mb and for some reason if the h100i doesn't detect fans it doesn't run the pump. I played one round of rainbow six siege and let the computer idle all night. Do you think that my cpu could be damaged?

No, if it didn't shut off by itself it was either at a really tightly uncomfortable, but managable, temperature or it was fine.

@GlazedPineapple If your system did not shut down or the gaming experience was really bad, I doubt the CPU would have gotten too hot. Keep in mind that you would only have used 3 to max 4 cores, so that is still less than half the load and water does actually circulate without the pump, just not as efficient.

I'd recommend running the pump full speed, connected directly to the power supply because even when the fans would fail or run too slow, you would have a giant passive heatsink to fallback on.

From personal experience, a 240 AIO can handle a system idling without any fans on it, even a light load would be fine in most cases.

Now my computer is idling at around 70-80c. Is that normal?

haha, no :D

Can you feel the pump working? The tubes should vibrate slightly. Also the Radiator should heat up quite a lot if it's actually working.

I had problems with my 3900X too and my issue was the CPU and Cooler not actually touching well, so you might wanna remount the cooler if the pump works.

I remounted the cpu cooler and I still get the same issue. It is idling around 94 C

How did thermal paste looked? Did it get spread out from the pressure?

And

We're you able to tell if the pump was running?
