just got a GIGABYTE GAMING OC 8G RTX 2080 SUPER and i oced it +65 on core and +1200 on memory. was wondering if i should keep this oc or just to stick with stock settings. my temps with and without oc are more than great. im just asking cuz i heard some people say that the memory on this card is underclocked mine at stock is at 7700mhz i think. anyways if i keep the oc i want stability test suggestions.

I also have a ryzen 5 3600 oc @4.2ghz on all cores

Should i keep oc?

If you really need the extra performance, your overclock is stable, and temperatures are fine, then sure keep the overclock. Otherwise, keep the card stock.

Unigine Valley Benchmark works well.

Ideally, as long as possible. I recommend running it for 15 minutes - 2 hours.

+65 on the Core is pretty mild, but the +1200 on the memory is rather nice.

As @r2724r16 mentioned, Unigine Valley benchmark would be good.

Another one would be putting it through 3DMark, and let it run all the way through (there is a free version).

Also throw in a couple of games that you play.

In come cases, it can be benchmark stable, but not game stable.

AMD Ryzen 9000 Rig

  • AMD R7 9800X3D + Alphacool CORE 1 w/ Performance Mount Kit + Thermal Grizzly AM5 Contact Frame

what if artifacts appear when im not around cuz i definitely wont be around for 2 hours ill probably sleep or do anything @r2724r16

Just start Valley Benchmark and leave it running while you're doing whatever. Go back after an hour when the temperature is maxed out and see if there's any visually-obvious artifacting.

I only put one on if I need the frames. So RDR 2 yes, Space engineers no.

I even have different overclocks for different games.

I also do vram tests to see how much extra heat is created with a overclock and the see how many frame it produces.

Looks like this.

vramtest2.thumb.jpg.3066cd42e73514efb8f5741c3cc4298e.jpg

All my cards will artifact right away if I add too much overclock. That is not the problem. Sustained heat is the problem.

The 3DMark Basic Edition within the 'Download Demo.'

If the steam download doesn't work, here it is from a reputable site: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/3dmark-download.html

If it's Unigine Valley stable for ~1 hour, I'd go ahead and try it with some games.
