Which should I upgrade first?

I7-8700 (non k) [Planning on changing to AMD but probably wait out until AM5]

1070TI

1080p 24" 144Hz

4K 24" 60Hz

 

I play AAA game and do some light editting on the side.

The build is decently spec'd out but I'd say for 4k... probably a video card update when Big navi/Ampere (AMD and nvidia's next gen video cards) comes out, (like a 3070S, 3080S or smnth, or like a 5900xt (whatever they plan to call it). AMD will be on AM5 on fifth-gen chips, if you didn't know. On the side, maybe treat yourself to a new monitor (as 144hz 4k for video cards will be here) and some minor upgrades to your overall setup if you might want it.

GPU, but honestly a 1070 ti for 1080p gaming is pretty solid. I would wait for the RTX 3000 series, possibly get a 3070... then in another year or two worry about the CPU. An 8700 is still a beast of a gaming CPU. No real AMD chip would do better. 

 

I recognize there are faster Ryzen chips, but this is a quick benchmark to prove the point.... A 8700 is still a totally viable high FPS pushing CPU. Wait off a few years till you worry about that.
