looking for something special

I have had the same gaming laptop for 9 years an ASUS  ROG G73sw with a GTX 460m, honestly it has been a great machine no major issues and only one broken recharging port, but at a decade old next year and its having issues, I tend to use it as a desktop replacement, dont want a full setup as i want to be able to take it with me during a hurricane or a vacation if need be. i have looked around but i have honestly not been paying attention to things i should, would the new asus machines with 17in screens be a good place and which models are gonna put me in a happy place battery life is not an issue, weight is not an issue, would like an optical drive if they still have machines with them. budget is $1500 or around that. screen and a machine that will last another 10 years and be a dependable friend. what i got basically
