Windows install problem

So my friend recently got a new SSD and he wanted to install Windows on it, the problem, however, is that he got the "Windows cannot be installed to this disk this computers hardware may not support booting to the disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's bios menu." error while trying to install it. We don't know how to fix this, so if anyone is willing to help we would appreciate it!

What hardware?

 

What windows version?

 

Did you delete all the existing partitions?

Ensure that UEFI is properly configures. Refer to your motherboard manual.

Ensure that (some option mentioned is not related to your problem, but might as well check for those):

• UEFI mode is enabled
• Nothing is set to Legacy mode
• CSM is disabled
• SATA controller is AHCI mode
• Fast Boot is enabled
• System is not overclocked.
• RAM is set to XMP Profile (or whatever it is called for AMD CPUs)
• Secure Boot is enabled.

Ensure that the SATA cable of your SATA drive is properly connected and is connected on teh motherboard first SATA connector. SATA-1 or SATA-0, depending where your motherboard manufacture starts counting

 

Then ensure that you boot your Windows 10 installation from USB or Disk as "EFI: <drive name>", and not "<drive name>".

 

In the Windows setup screen, where you pick your drive, select it, and pick "New" first. If that option was already pressed in the past install attempt, then pick "Format".

Then click on Next.

Disable Secure Boot and try again.
