So I recently got myself an Asus RT-N66U, and my internet plan is for 50mb/s. However, I'm using an old Motorola modem from around 2000. Would my internet speed at all benefit from buying a new updated modem. And every once and a while my internet will stop working for like 2 minutes, but I know its not the router because I am still connected to the network, could it be that the modem is just too old?

I don't know but I have the same question. Comcast called me saying I need a new modem because my current one is bottle-necking our internet speed. I normally would believe them but my modem is 10 years old...

Space is pretty awesome.
