Upgrade Suggestion Please

Go to solution Solved by venturizhou,

Get a R9 270X or a GTX 760 and that should be good.

Hello everyone

I have been slowly upgrading my pc from a dusty old slower-than-death- pc to a less slower-than death pc

My current specs are:

  • 4 gb single-channeled corsair DDR3
  • nvidia GTX GeForce 550 TI (At least this is what dxdiag says...I have thoughts that the cards bios are changed cause it does not look like the ones in the images :P)
  • intel core 2 quad ( 4 cores non-overclocked 2.83GHz)
  • PSU:550w turbox

Now i am thinking, for a better gaming experience, should I buy a better graphics card or should i upgrade both my motherboard and my cpu (cause its socket 775 and this is the strongest cpu i can put in my pc)
Please be specific about what should i buy  :D
  :D  :D

for that budget a 750ti is probably your best bet.

Thank you guys i think i will go with the R9 270X

Do you think i will lose some performance with such CPU ?

No, you should be fine. Another option is that if you want to save some money you can get a R9 270 and see if you can overclock it to match a R9 270X. They are structurally the exact same card except for different clock speeds.
