Ryzen 5 3600 and an ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F motherboard.

I chose these 2 parts on PC part picker and it told me "Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." So I need to know what I need to do in order to make sure my PC works and that the BIOS is updated. Will I actually need another CPU to flash my mother board or can I just put the CPU in and it will work no problem. I will be buying these parts brand new.

You can just order a "MAX" motherboard from MSI. These guarantee compatibility with 3rd gen Ryzen processors. Buying anything else without guaranteed support for your CPU is a gamble, as it may or may not have the correct bios revision.

Bought a similar motherboard last month. Came with AMD 3000 series supported printed on the box and was running the latest BIOS. Works fine.
