So hi, ive come here beacuse well my stupidity i guess. Alright to the point, so i own a launchpad for 4 years now and never really got to use it beacuse there was something with the usb port. It was held with tape... yea the micro usb in the launchpad was not soldered anywhere. And well me being the 200iq i sometimes am decided to use some kind of super to get it back together (the micro usb) main reasin behind is i dont have the best soldering equipment amd dont have any clue on how to do it. So surprise surprise it didnt work so i torn it dow again and troed to remove the glue with quite some sucsess. When i was cleaning it from the glue i may have destroyed something importamt but dont have a clue on what that so ive come here to figure it out on what it is and is it fixable. Im talking about the two thingis beside the pads. They were black.

All you really need to do is solder the right connector back on and make sure none of the contacts are shorted to each other (like it looks like pin 2 and 3 are on this picture).

For this job I would use a heat gun instead of an iron. First clean up the pads with solder wick, then lightly re tin the pads and usng a needle nose pliers place the new connector then remove the heat source.

When using a heat gun be wary of near by components. It's less exact than an Iron and heats a large area. So angle the air flow away from the other components and be careful not to touch them with the pliers and also have the PCB flat and level so gravity doesn't potentially take them.

Pretty sure they're just structural. Micro USB only has 5 pins. And one is unused unless you're on a phone and need OTG sense.
