First, make sure your Windows PC is set to the private profile:

1. Settings

2. Network & Internet

3. Change connection properties

4. Check Private

Also, you might need to turn off password protection:

1. Settings

2. Network & Internet

3. Sharing options

4. All Networks

5. Check Turn off password-protected sharing

Basically it won't ask to authenticate to the Windows PC when you're trying to access it.

Just to be sure the issue is you can't access shared files on your Windows PC from your Macbook right?

mac book can access my pc files   //  but // pc can see the macbook on network but cant access files and gives this error 0x80070035

i also recently tried this - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files/homegroup-removed-how-to-get-network-sharing-work/01277332-2916-4a68-853a-116696b20743?page=30

the last part :

6.2. Add all PC's IP-addresses and Names to hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts).

You can check your IP-address and PC's name by opening command prompt (CMD)

For IP-address type command: ipconfig you get line like this: IPv4 Address ………. 192.168.100.101

For PC name type command:  hostname

Write down IP-address and Name of each PC and add those to that hosts file.

To edit copy hosts file to some another location, right click it and use notepad to edit and save it. Replace original file with edited file. Because hosts file is located on system folder replace will ask administrators rights to perform it.

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1             localhost
# ::1                        localhost

   192.168.100.101  PC1   # Ethernet
   192.168.100.102  PC2   # Ethernet

   192.168.100.202  PC2   # Wi-Fi

but still not working :(

Oh ok I though it was the other way around. Then the issue might be on your Mac, be sure that SMB sharing is enabled.

When you're trying something to fix the issue do you put it back like it was if it doesn't work? Because you could end up with a bunch of settings that has been changed and that would be a nightmare to troubleshoot.

ok when i do this windows now prompts me with the dialogue box - use name and pass - but when i enter my credentials - still the error

Well I think you've found your issue, there's something wrong with the credentials. Maybe try to create another user on your Mac?

Or I guess there's an option to allow anyone on the network to see the shared folders without entering creds.

The issue seems to be that your PC can't translate your Mac name into an IP address. Instead of using your Mac name in the Windows Explorer search bar use it's IP address.

wow it gave different error now its 079

Just to be sure this is how you're trying to access your Mac right?

\\YOU_MAC_IP_ADDRESS

You can either use run "Windows key + R" or typing it in the Windows Explorer search bar.

yep the ip address

You could try to plug both of them directly with an ethernet cable with manual ip addresses in the same subnet.

Windows PC = 192.168.1.2 / 255.255.255.0

Mac = 192.168.1.3 / 255.255.255.0

Then try to access the shared files on your Mac again.

So on the Windows PC type \\192.168.1.3

There's something wrong with the way you're sharing the files. I would try to remove the share and do it all over again.

i did that and nope i dont have usb to rj45 :( -

and i also changed the netbios name to match my computer name in mac

- then this works - but with error

also now it pings and when i click the network icon it now ask credentials - but when i enter my credentials it loads and gives this new error - 0x80070079
