First build no post

I'm completing my first build and when I press the power everything lights up but I have a red led on dram and the PC does not post. I'm assuming I have to flash the bios but I'm worried I bricked the motherboard when I jammed the pci e power cord into the CPU power slot. I since switched the wires and I am also worried that I have 1 pci 8 pin in the GPU and took the same wires 6+2 pin and also put that in the GPU.

 

Motherboard: b450 tomahawk

CPU: ryzen 7 1700

GPU: GeForce 980ti

Psu: powerspec 650w bronze

Memory: trident gskill 16gb(2x8)

That's a VERY shit power supply. You may want to take it to a service centre for diagnostics with known good power supplies

I just realized that my ram may be 3600 and I think the board only supports 3200

The RAM will default to the default speed supported by the motherboard. You would have to change the speed in the Bios by enabling the XMP profile. Is the memory you purchased supported on the motherboards QVL?

Yeah I saw that gskill is supported by msi on the qvl
