Try a strong hold gel instead of wax, it will keep the hair in place all day. Genetics are genetics man, there's not a whole lot else you can do other than getting it cut really short or alternatively growing it longer like Han from the Fast and Furious.

You could get the undercut, seems pretty popular now and kinda solves the problems of the sides. You might look like Psy though.
