Okay ill explain in more detail (its gonna be long)

Okay so i re-did basically my entire pc. I got a new motherboard (MSI Z390-A pro) along with a new cpu the i5 i mentioned above. 16 gb ram and a new ssd. i kept my old PSU which is a thermaltake smart 650 watt, and my 1tb hard drive. When i installed everything and booted the computer up for the first time after installing windows everything ran perfectly fine with no issues what-so-ever. When i booted up any game it would run fine with no issues for about 20 minutes until it abruptly froze and resulted in a BSOD or me having to manually restart pc.I tried just about everything i could think of and everything the internet told me. i saw a single post on a MSI website about turning the Intel boost off in the BIOS to stop the crashes, i tried it since i was out of ideas and it worked, i have been running and gaming without issues for about 2 weeks. I am curious as to why this is happening and how i could fix it to turn the Intel Boost for my CPU back on

It could be bad firmware from msi it self

Okay, so what should i call customer support and try to get another motherboard or can i fix it?

No I don't think you need to call customer support as I said it *could be* not it is

But if it's only a problem on msi boards it could be as I said bad firmware provided by msi

But if it is not affecting performance then it should be fine

You kept your hardrive did you reinstall windows?

Also what are the temps of the CPU when you play a game and it freezes? if they are high maybe you did not apply the cooler in the correct way or pu to little, too much thermal paste.

Last but not least there is a slight chance that your PSU is old and tired of that sh1t and cant deliver the power needed for the boost

while i agree with these

i dont think itll apply to him because another consumer had the same problem so i dont think that two people ended up with a badly applied cooler or a a bad psu

the cpu temps while under a load was around 60c and from what i can tell the PSU is doing fine. I kept my old Hard drive, but i wiped it and put windows on my ssd

Can you be more specific I mean you had an indicator while playing games and the like a few seconds before crushing the temp was 60C or you just saw the temp before starting the game?

I have never seen my CPU tempurature go over 64 degrees celcius while under load. Loads ranging from about 20%-90% CPU usage

well sorry for stressing this but its very important to be precise and from what you say I can not be sure because 90% usage doesnt mean much unless you mention this:

Have you checked your CPU temp while playing a game with boost enabled a few seconds before it crashes?

Either way as I said I doubt it's something wrong from your side

Download MSI afterburner (you dont have to have a MSI GPU in order to work with it) https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner

And put an overlay for your game, if you dont know how here is an easy short tutorial its really not a big deal

put all those metrics up and print screen while in a demanding point of a game (e.g many NPCs or you at an open field or whatnot)  it will be useful to see the state of your system while doing that and try to check the temps of CPU and GPU before you crush
