My laptop crashes every time I run a game. The game doesn't have to be very demanding (cs:go, Rocket league, Valorant...). If I cap my fps at an unplayable / laggy 30-50 fps, while my computer can easily run them at 120+ it doesn't crash.

There is no bsod, it just force shuts down. I checked the event viewer and every time, the exact second when it crashes it says this "File System Filter 'npsvctrig' (10.0, ‎1977‎-‎09‎-‎12T17:19:34.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager." i tried reinstalling windows and it keeps happening.

Now I'm wondering if there's a way to disable the driver (npsvctrig) so I can see if it causes the crashes. I didn't have any issues like this until about a month ago.

I found a reddit post with the same issue which was resolved by debloating windows, which I tried but didn't work. Also the person with the issue got bsod, which I don't.

Any help/opinion would be appreciated.

Thanks

But at the same time, you sure this isn't a thermal shutdown and crash?

yeah, I tried reapplying thermal paste and now the cpu runs at max 60 °C (140°F) and gpu at max about 70°C (158°F).

I will try disabling fastboot.

Thanks.

Yeah, the events are the exact same, just without bsod.

specs:

cpu- Intel Core i5 6300HQ

memory- 8gb DDR4

graphics- GeForce GTX 950M and integrated intel HD 530

Motherboard- Dont know, it's a laptop

I attached a file with full specs(CPU-Z). If you don't want to open it you can check for Lenovo Ideapad 700-15isk specs.

Thanks.

🤔 Ok, well, if this is really a power related issue, then its either the battery, and/or the VRM's on the laptop's motherboard that's the problem since those are the only two things that would provide power to the laptop. It might even be the battery adapter itself. Other things might cause it to crash of course. It could be software related more than hardware. It could be your anti-virus program or whatever else you have running in the background, you'll have to figure that out. Usually though, when a computer crashes due to software not playing ball, it wouldn't cause your computer to just shut down and reboot. Just to be sure, check that your bios, operating system and GPU drivers are up to date, and maybe check to make sure you have your power plan set to "high performance" for each games exe file under the "display settings" tab.
